Children'Dandy & Retro F/W Line Was Unveiled

The Gucci children’s collection for Fall/Winter 2013-2014 takes its inspiration from a “back to town & school” mood for an elegant yet highly versatile wardrobe characterized by dandy and retro hints. This stylish and effortless collection – full of color and fashionable details – is designed by Creative Director Frida Giannini for both city life as well as playful weekends away.

BOY

Natural and dusty colors like blue fog, heron blue, oasis, grey and beige join traditional wintry tones such as navy blue, khaki, bordeaux and shades of green – from forest to iceberg and marble. Mélange effects also create a uniquely relaxed look through warm hand-knitted wools, t-shirts and gauzed jersey sweatshirts.

Macro checks represent the graphic motif of the season, infusing a bold attitude on classic peacoats and padded jackets that mix nylon with wool. A Scottish flair where shirts feature yarn-dyed flannel or internally finished with eco-fur, and matched with skinny or loose-tapered pants. Fabrics are warm, soft and comfortable: denim, canvas, checked cotton and flannel, always perfect for the on-the-go moments and outdoor games.

Not only does the junior wardrobe employ House symbols such as the iconic green-red-green web stripe, used as a patch to evoke classic college uniforms, the collection also makes use of Gucci’s signature material, leather, for distinctive outerwear. The deep green biker jumper in suede, the vintage-inspired aviator bomber with lambswool collar and the shearling parka make for an adventurous and dynamic look, fit for the most stylish Gucci gentleboys.

GIRL

A color palette refined by the Fifties charms of powdery nuances such as mint, grapevine, grey and beige, combined with more intense and vibrant hues like pumpkin and malachite green.

A retro feel with a fun, modern twist, as mirrored by the impeccable silhouettes of the little coats and the cape-manteaux with a leopard-print fur collar – a glamorous accent that even appears on accessories.

Patterns and graphics play a key role in the girls’ wardrobe. Alongside the graceful birds & ribbons print, animals appears throughout the line, on silk shirts, fluid dresses and hand-knit garments, to wear under the cozy mink-fur coat and the pony-skin trench.

A more casual attitude comes in the way of check motifs on wool, for flared shirts and tunics with airy ruffles or boyish oversize shirts, while the chicest dresses in tulle and velvet are adorned with polka dots and precious embroideries of degrade pearls. Knitwear reveals a luxurious and ultra soft feel, realized in the finest wools from mohair to alpaca.

NEWBORN

The collection is complemented by the Baby Line, from 0 to 36 months, where the check pattern reappears on warm and comfortable fabrics for him, alternating to pied-de-poule motifs and needlepoint embroideries of the iconic web stripe detail. For girls, the color palette of pastel tones and bright hues characterizes elegant yet comfortable fabrics, from silk and velvet to jersey stretch.

Finally, the Layette proposal presents a variety of graceful gift sets, comprising seven bodysuits in seven prints: a fanciful world for every day of the week.
