Dow Solar Is Expanding to Delaware and Hawaii

Dow Solar, a business of The Dow Chemical Company announced that the availability of DOW POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles, an award-winning residential solar roofing system, is expanding to Delaware and Hawaii.

Delaware and Hawaii are among the smaller states in the nation, both in population and geography. But in the solar industry, the two states rank in the top ten, which drew Dow Solar’s attention in determining the next market for the revolutionary DOW POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles.

Hawaii and Delaware boast the third and seventh most solar power per capita, according to Environment America Research and Policy Center. The Solar Energy Industries Associates even lists Hawaii in the top ten states for total installed solar capacity – with good reason, as the island state also faces the highest residential utility rates in the nation. With strong net metering programs, these states present homeowners with the perfect opportunity to take control of their energy costs by reinventing their rooftops with Solar Shingles.

“Many homeowners are increasingly interested in taking control of their energy consumption by generating their own power with solar,” said Yochai Gafni, Commercial and Marketing director for Dow Solar. “DOW POWERHOUSE Solar Shingles offer a smart investment, allowing homeowners to turn their passive roof into a roof that creates electricity, saves them money, and increases their home value.”

In Hawaii, renewable energy solutions provider Green Path Technologies will offer POWERHOUSE to residents of all major islands, partnering with a trusted local roofer. In Delaware, G. Fedale Roofing & Siding Contractors, CMI Solar Electric, and Yencer Builders have all been authorized as certified installers. A Wilmington home became the first in the state to join the POWERHOUSE community by reroofing with Solar Shingles.

Backed by a 20-year performance warranty, the DOW POWERHOUSE Solar Shingle is a dual-functioning system offering superior aesthetics over rack-mounted solar panels and is certified as both a roofing and solar product. The system is a complete turnkey package that includes a custom design for each home, the inverter to convert DC to useable AC electricity, the utility interconnection so that credit is obtained for the electricity generated, and a web-based monitoring system that provides real-time system performance. Whether reroofing an existing home or custom building, DOW POWERHOUSE presents the smartest investment for homeowners, protecting their house while creating savings on their monthly energy bill.
