Environmental packaging specialist Biopac has launched a new range of compostable containers with clear RPET lids which are said to be suitable for food outlets which would like to show off their culinary creations.
The range has been made available in a variety of round, square and rectangular bowls with variable depths and is freezer-, microwave- and oven-safe.
These packages provide good thermal qualities to ensure the food remains hot and are best suited for food outlets serving hot and cold food. These containers also offer good stackability and denesting features.
BIopac technical director Mark Brigden said: "The combination of containers made from Bagasse, a sugarcane residue, and lids made from RPET is the perfect answer to customers' increasing demand for packaging that can be fully composted and recycled.
"Bagasse is a fully compostable, natural, abundant and renewable resource. Our new range is unbleached which means it retains the natural colour of the sugarcane fibres."
Established in 2002, the company is considered to be the leading developer and supplier of eco-friendly packaging and catering disposables in the UK.
The clip-on clear RPET lids are designed to fit securely to keep food well preserved and eliminate leakage while also ensuring that there is no transfer of taste. The company is offering a choice of either flat or domed lids which are crystal clear to give customers excellent food visibility. They are also claimed to be heat resistant and fully recyclable with the recycling bottle scheme.
"The containers are ideal for cafes, takeaways, streetfood traders and caterers serving hot and cold food. They are in stock now and are already proving popular with a number of our clients," added Brigden.
