Mondelez International Is Geared up to Invest £75m in Its Cadbury Plant in UK

Mondelēz International, a US-based food and beverage firm, is geared up to invest around £75m in its Cadbury plant in Bournville, Birmingham.

The investment will be used to upgrade equipment at the facility over the next three years.

As part of the modernization, the company will install four new production lines, which are expected to enhance the production capacity while optimizing the costs.

Birmingham Chamber of Commerce president Tim Pile said that there is a productivity gap in Bournville which needs to be closed in order to meet the competition in the industry.

Mondelez International Chocolate UK manufacturing director Neil Chapman said, "Bournville has a proud manufacturing heritage and we are committed to ensuring it continues and becomes a world class manufacturing site.

"This investment would secure the site's future for the next generation."

Currently, the Bournville production plant employs around 1,000 people. It manufactures Cadbury Creme Eggs, chocolate blocks, Dairy Milk Buttons, Wispa bars and other chocolates such as Cadbury Roses and Heroes.

Mondelez International manufactures and markets snack food and beverage products worldwide. The company offers biscuits, including cookies, crackers and salted snacks; and confectionery products such as chocolates, gums, and candies; powdered beverages and coffee, and cheese and grocery products.
