General Motors Plans to Expand Its Green-Vehicle Offering

General Motors plans to expand its green-vehicle offering by introducing two new electric vehicles to Chevrolet division.

Automotive News reported GM global product chief Mark Reuss confirming plans for the electric vehicle during a presentation to investors. However, Reuss did not spill out the name or the time of release.

Two sources familiar with GM's plans have also said that "the company is working on an EV based on the current version of the Sonic subcompact that would have a range of about 200 miles. It is scheduled for sometime in 2017."

Chevrolet has plug-in car Volt which is quite popular in the US. It also sells Spark EV car.

Currently Spark EV is sold only in Oregon and California.

Previously, former GM CEO Dan Akerson reportedly said that GM is working on a car which will be capable of travelling about 200 miles on a single charge.
