Woodland Is Launching New Range of Products Like Specialized Jackets

Looking to expand its market, leading outdoor apparel and footwear brand Woodland is all set to penetrate the adventure sportswear segment in a big way.

Realizing growing interest of people in adventure sports, particularly in India's northern Himalayan region, Woodland planned a foray in this space, and is now set to launch a range of adventure and sports apparels and shoes.

As a part of its strategy to explore this segment, Woodland prepared a special head to toe adventure gear, which was donned by Loveraj Singh Dharamshaktu, a mountaineer from Uttarakhand who conquered Everest this year.

Speaking on the sidelines of the launch of Woodland's autumn/winter collection, company's Managing Director Harkirat Singh said with increasing number of people developing interest in adventure sports, they are all set to exploit the emerging segment.

Woodland is launching new range of products like specialized jackets, which would provide protection to mountaineers and trekkers against frost bites while climbing in chilling temperatures, he said.

Woodland shorts, cotton shirts and capris are also designed to keep cool during hot weathers, while its light-weight sweatshirts, jackets and pullovers are suitable for hilly areas, he added.

The company has also come out with a yoga collection, which enhances the workout results.

Intending to put adventure, nature and outdoors in the same line, the new Woodland apparel collection reproduces moods of the nature. The company's entire apparel range well reflects nature, Mr. Singh said.

He said the company would launch 150 new outlets across India this year, thus taking the total number to 500. It would use one billion rupees for its expansion drive during current fiscal, he added.
