GM Has Issued a Recall of 196,379 Older Hummer Suvs to Fix Issues

General Motors (GM) has issued a recall of 196,379 older Hummer SUVs to fix issues in ventilation fan motor control, which could lead to fire hazard.

The issue in the ventilation fan motor control can sett off fire and so far the issue reportedly triggered 42 cases of fire while three people have suffered burn injuries.

Out of the three, two Hummer models were gutted.

The models covered under the recall are the Hummer H3 made between 2006 and 2010 as well as Hummer HT3 from 2009 to 2010, according to a report by Reuters.

Of the 42 cases of fire involving the Hummer, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration was apprised of 31 and the rest was conveyed to GM directly.

Of the total vehicles to be recalled, 164,993 are in the US, while the rest are in Canada and Mexico.

In another recall, 50,731 newer Chevrolet Spark subcompacts vehicles will be involved, due to a software problem that renders safety warnings non-functional.

The Spark models, belonging to the years 2014 and 2015, has software glitch in its radio capable of malfunctioning while accessing the OnStar navigation system.

The issue could render the radio display blank and lead to disabling safety warnings.
