Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Conference Is Held in Friendship Hall

On April 19, 2012 Shanghai Science and Technology Awards Conference is held in friendship hall, Shanghai Exhibition Center. The conference sets up "Youth Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award" for the first time and Baosteel Central Research Institute chief researcher Zhang Zhonghua is among the nine winners. 282 persons are granted Shanghai Science and Technology Awards at the conference. Baosteel has six projects which win Science and Technology Progress Awards, among which "low temperature high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel manufacturing technology development and industrialization" wins Science and Technology Progress Award 1st prize.

This year, Shanghai Science and Technology Award categories are increased from five to six. In addition to Science and Technology Outstanding Service Award, Natural Science Award, Technological Invention Award, Science and Technology Progress Award and International Science and Technology Cooperation Award, "Youth Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award" is newly added. This award, along with Science and Technology Outstanding Service Award are selected in alternate years, mainly aiming at awarding young scientists under the age of 45 who has made outstanding contributions in basic research, technology development and industrialization and enterprise innovation and entrepreneurship.

As Baosteel oil well pipe and long product team leader, Zhang Zhonghua carries out high-grade oil well pipe and high-end bar steel products development and technology research, closely combining China's energy industry and automobile industry development material demand and has made a series of international advanced level innovation results. He developes the world's leading 3Cr series of economic anti-corrosion oil casing and tubing; He successfully developes domestic nickel-based alloy tubing and casing which break foreign technical barrier; He successfully developes domestic super 13Cr oil tubing and casing which fills the domestic gap;  He also develops auto spring high strength steel which is a targeted object and which plays an important role in auto industry development. He has received 22 patents, won National Technology Invention Award 2nd prize, Shanghai Technology Invention Award 1st prize and China Material Association Invention 2nd prize. 24 new product grades are identified by Shanghai Hi-tech Transformation.

Following China Metallurgical Science and Technology Award Grand Prize last year, Baosteel "low temperature high magnetic induction oriented silicon steel manufacturing technology development and industrialization" project wins Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award 1st prize. The project breaks through high-grade oriented silicon steel core technology, completes production line independent integration and achieves high-grade oriented silicon steel mass and stable production. The product series achieve full coverage and the actual quality reaches world-class level. The successful development of the project changes the situation of long-term dependence on high-grade oriented silicon steel imports and enables China's oriented silicon steel manufacturing technology to enter into world first class level. The project has formed a relatively complete intellectual property system and 29 invention patents, 42 utility models and 405 corporate secrets. Up to now, more than 200 units of Baosteel high-grade oriented silicon steel products have been used for EHV transformer manufacturing. The highest voltage level is 750 kV and is successfully used in Three Gorges and other national key projects.

During the awards ceremony, two worker inventors Kong Liming and Wang Jun winTechnology Progress Awards 2nd prize with "belt conveyor steel wire degaussing technology" and "high yielding rate energy saving and environmental protection hot rolling laminar cooling complete sets  technology and equipment research and development" respectively. "Heavy plate after rolling cooling control system and process model development and application" wins Scientific and Technological Progress Awards 2nd prize. In addition, "large-scale continuous annealing line critical process control technology" and "automotive steel supply and demand refined dynamic management system" win Scientific and Technological Progress Awards 3rd prizes.
