Nissan Is Planning to Introduce Its Self-Driving Cars in Japan

Nissan is planning to introduce its self-driving cars in Japan by next year, which will be able to navigate on its own on the highway.

By 2020, the company aims to further advance the technology and make the car ready to navigate on busy urban environments without a driver behind the wheels.

Previously, the company entered into a five-year agreement with NASA for the development of self-driving technology, and it aims to make the car navigate through crowded city roads.

Nissan is also planning to work with domestic rivals Toyota and Honda on the technology, and the three companies are also planning to team up with electronics giants and the Japanese government to make the country one of the front runners of the technology, reported Agence France-Presse.

The publication cited Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn as saying: "There will be a Nissan product in Japan, which will carry autonomous drive.

"Obviously when you have this kind of technology, you want also the Japanese market to enjoy it as soon as possible."
