Sonoco Plastics has announced the commencement of rigid plastic containers production for personal care products at its new $15m plant in the Beauty and Home Care campus in New Albany, Ohio, US.
Sonoco Rigid Plastics vice president Rodger Fuller said the 142,230ft2 plant, which is operating 11 injection stretch blow-molding production lines at present, produces PET bottles for personal care products.
"As we continue to ramp up production from our new Beauty Park facility we will be adding six more injection stretch blow-molding lines," Fuller said.
The plant also operates four injection molding machines that produce plastic components for wall air fresheners.
The company expects to be in full production by year-end 2012 and is said to have the capability to further grow the plant's production for other personal care and food-grade containers.
Besides the Beauty Park facility, Sonoco Plastics operates a food-grade, blow-molding and injection molding plant in Columbus, Ohio and further plans for additional expansion of the facility.
Sonoco Plastics has 25 plastics operations in the US, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, Netherlands and Germany and manufactures mono-layer and multi-layer blow-molded bottles and jars, thermoformed cups and trays, engineered molded and extruded containers, spools and trays.
