M&M Has Started to Manufacture Bigger Electric Vehicle (EV).

Indian automobile manufacturer Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) has started working on a new platform to manufacture bigger electric vehicle (EV).

The new platform could be used by M&M's Korean subsidiary SsangYong Motor, claims the company.

M&M Automotive and Farm Equipment Sectors president Pawan Goenka said after the company has launched the e2o in March 2013, it has started developing a new electric vehicle platform.

"This is going to be the next generation vehicle after the set of launches of electric vehicle that are coming up from our stable," Goenka added.

According to the company, the design and development work of the platform is being carried out at its Mahindra Reva electric car division in Bangalore.

The company has invested a total of INR1bn ($18.3m) in the development of the EV e2o and build a production plant that has a capacity to manufacture 30,000 units per year.
