The new center will be equipped with amenities for product preparation, discussion rooms, two studios with viewing facility, break-out room to conduct qualitative research and in-depth interviews.

Campden BRI head of consumer and sensory sciences Peter Burgess was quoted by Food Ingredients First as saying: "We've experienced a continued growth in demand from businesses across food chain that are looking to include consumer input into various stages of the product development process.

"These stages include the identification of consumer needs through to concept development, prototype evaluation, product positioning and post launch evaluation.

"This demand has exceeded the capacity of our existing centres so extending our facilities by opening a new centre will enable us to meet current and future client requirements.

"Opening this new regional test centre demonstrates our commitment to further enhancing our consumer and sensory science offering. We work with some of the world's biggest brands and retailers in the food and drink industry, and this new regional centre provides us with a world-class facility offering even greater capacity and flexibility to ensure that we can meet their needs both now and in the future."

Burgess pointed out that it was necessary to have a structured approach to development of products given that launch timeless and resource availability are less.

The new facility marks an addition to the company's existing advanced technology-based sensory and consumer facilities at its headquarters in Gloucestershire. .

Campden BRI is a membership-based food research organization which specialises in the practical application of technical excellence to help food and allied industries with analysis and testing, operational support, research and innovation, and knowledge management. The organization has 2,400 members spanning over 80 countries, reports New Food Magazine.
