Custom MMIC Has Added Four New Amplifiers in Die Form to Its Product Family

Monolithic microwave integrated circuit developer Custom MMIC of Westford, MA, USA has added four new amplifiers in die form to its product family: the CMD164, 165, and 173 distributed amplifiers, and the CMD166 driver amplifier.

The new products boast ultra-wideband performance, low noise figure, low current consumption, and an all positive bias scheme. Concerning the distributed amplifiers, the CMD164 (DC-30GHz) and the CMD165 (2-30GHz) each deliver greater than 12dB of gain with an output 1 dB compression point of +15dBm and noise figure of 2.4dB at 10GHz. The CMD173 operates from DC-20GHz and delivers greater than 15dB of gain with an output 1dB compression point of +18dBm and noise figure of 2dB at 10GHz. As a driver amplifier, the CMD166 operates from 20-40GHz with 9dB of gain and an output 1 dB compression point of +17dBm.

The new amplifiers are 50 ohm matched designs, which eliminate the need for external DC blocks and RF port matching. They offer full passivation for increased reliability and moisture protection. Applications include microwave radio and VSAT, telecom infrastructure, test instrumentation, military and space applications, fiber optics, wideband communication systems, and point-to-point and point-to-multipoint radios.
