Hyundai Motor Will Sell About 7.41 Million Vehicles Worldwide in 2013 That Has a 4.1% Rise

South Korean carmaker Hyundai Motor is aiming to sell about 7.41 million vehicles worldwide in 2013, a 4.1% rise from the 7.12 million vehicles sold during 2012, marking a slowest growth since 2003.

Hyundai Motor chairman Chung Mong-koo said the company expects that the market conditions at home and abroad will be very difficult in 2013 due to the European debt crisis and a slowing global economy.

"That's why we need to put a more focus on qualitative growth this year," Mong-koo said.

During 2012, the carmaker had targeted to sell 4.29 million vehicles and its subsidiary Kia Motors planned to sell 2.71 million autos, while both have targeted to sell of 4.66 million and 2.75 million vehicles during 2013.

Both firms have increased their sales targets in 2012 aided by new models and expansion of production bases.

The South Korean carmaker is also planning to unveil a luxury-concept vehicle at the upcoming Detroit motor show to be held in January 2013.
