Borgwarner Plans to Invest $24.6m to Expand Its Existing Manufacturing Plant

American auto-parts manufacturer BorgWarner is set to invest $24.6m to expand its existing manufacturing plant in Seneca, Oconee County, South Carolina.

The company supplies powertrains and other automotive parts to major brands such as VW/Audi, Ford, Toyota, Renault/Nissan, General Motors, Hyundai/Kia, Daimler, Chrysler, Fiat, BMW, Honda, John Deere, PSA and MAN.

BorgWarner expects to complete this project in phases over the next few years. The expansion will create approximately 105 new jobs in the region.

Commenting on the expansion plans, BorgWarner torqtransfer systems president and general manager Stefan Demmerle said: "We expect that our latest expansion will provide our customers with high-quality, advanced technologies, offer local job opportunities and help sustain the local economy."

Oconee County Council chairman Joel Thrift said: "Seeing this type expansion occur proves that our local economy is ripe for business and our economic development strategies are paying off."

BorgWarner manufactures engineered components and systems for powertrain applications globally. It has manufacturing and technical facilities in 56 locations across 19 countries.
