A collaboration of Renault Trucks and Rave group has delivered six Euro 6 biodiesel vehicles to global aircraft major Airbus.
Rave and Renault Trucks earlier clinched the tender floated by DHL on behalf of Airbus in Toulouse, France that involved supplying four tractors and two rigids for meeting an alternative solution to diesel.
The synergy between Rave and Renault Trucks was backed by their expertise in commercial vehicles, alternative energies, transport and logistics. This culminated into offering the vehicles to Airbus, which are capable of matching their diesel counterparts on engine power rating and torque.
The engines consume 100% biodiesel derived from vegetable oils and animal fat.
The new fleet includes two Renault Trucks D 4x2 rigids with the specifications - a 12 ton model equipped with the DTI 5 240 hp engine and a 19 ton model equipped with the DTI 8 320 hp engine as well as four Renault Trucks D Wide 19 ton tractors fitted with the DTI 8 320 hp engine.
The trucks will cater to logistics requirements of all the Airbus assembly sites in Toulouse and production sites at Airbus Saint-éloi.
All the vehicles, set to be utilized for daily rounds, will be beneficial towards transporting machine parts and ferrying subcontractors and suppliers.
