Crestron Enters Luminaire Market

Crestron has moved into the interior luminaire market after developing a range of LED luminaires to work with its existing control product portfolio.

The company said its decision to launch its own luminaire range to market was made in response to its need for an LED luminaire with ‘a smooth dimming curve’ which could work well in partnership with its suite of controls products.

Crestron said the LED luminaires, which use Cree chips as the light source, can replicate the smooth dimming curve (1-100 per cent), colour temperature and lumen output of halogen. The products will also use a coloured reflector to replicate the warming characteristics of halogen when dimmed.

Mark Tallent, international technology manager for Lighting and Building Controls said of the new range: “Our focus at Crestron is on integrated solutions, not standalone products, so for our first foray into the luminaire market we wanted to perfect the behaviour pattern between an LED light source and its control”.

The new product range includes a general purpose luminaire, a recessed floor uplight, a surface-mounted spot luminaire and a mini-recessed tilt luminaire.
