Hydromer Enters Into an Agreement to Supply Its Anti-Frost Freezer Door Coating

Hydromer, a developer of medical device coatings, has entered into an agreement to supply its anti-frost freezer door coating to an international glass manufacturer.

Licensee's testing of Hydromer's anti-frost coating, when applied to glass freezer doors, has shown to eliminate the need for energy intensive glass heaters and results in lower operating costs and provide store owner with a greener energy footprint.

The company said in general food display freezers use electric heating units to heat the glass doors to minimize frost formation that obstructs the consumer's view of the freezer contents.

Hydromer executive vice president Martin von Dyck said after several years of lab and field testing the company's anti-frost coating technology, its licensee has made the commitment to dedicate a manufacturing plant in Europe to provide the anti-frost coated glass to clients.

"This exclusivity agreement does not prevent Hydromer from exploring other non-freezer door markets for this exciting Anti-Frost Coating technology," Dyck added.
