The Volvo Group Has Opened up an on-Site Medical Centre and Pharmacy for Workers

The Volvo Group has opened up an on-site medical centre and pharmacy for workers at its Hagerstown powertrain development and production facility.

The medical centre is open to all the company's Hagerstown-based employees and their dependents who are registered in the company's medical insurance plans, the company announced.

The center is 6,000 sq.-ft. and will be open from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. It will be staffed by a team of eight, including a full-time physician and Walgreens pharmacist, as well as nurses and physical therapists.

"The health and wellbeing of employees is a priority for the Volvo Group," said Wade Watson, vice-president and plant manager. "Beyond its employee wellness benefits, we believe this center will also help us attract and retain top talent, while reducing costs for both our employees and the company."

Volvo says the medical center represents a US$1-million investment.
