Located in Paarl in the Western Cape, Novo pack house is an advanced pome fruit packing facility and it is capable of serving pome fruit farmers in the Ceres, Villiersdorp, Piketberg, Grabouw and Boland areas.

With advanced packing equipment and technologies, the pack house is capable of packing 120 000 bins every year.

Capespan Farms CEO Tonie Fuchs said: "Novo pack house entrenches Capespan's access to the downstream value chain which will ensure better service delivery and a more efficient and cost effective route-to-market for its customers.

"It enjoys an established customer base and will be operated by Capespan as the first choice packing facility for growers in its service area."

Besides Novo pack house, Capespan also acquired a pome fruit farm Theewaterskloof Estate in Villiersdorp.

Theewaterskloof Estate, which produces apples, pears and plums, complements the 110 hectares pome fruit expansion earmarked for Capespan's other pome farm, Applethwaite in Elgin, by increasing Capespan's combined pome production footprint to over 630 hectares over the next three years.

Both of these acquisitions form a part of Capespan Group's strategy to grow its business with acquisitions in production, distribution and service entities.
