BMW Group Has Reported April Sales of 26,793 Vehicles, up 6.1% Compared in April

The BMW Group in the US (BMW and MINI combined) has reported April sales of 26,793 vehicles, up 6.1% compared with the 25,247 vehicles sold in the same month previous year.

BMW Group has sold 102,522 in the first four months of 2012, a 13.7% increase when compared to 90,204 sold in the same period in 2011.

BMW president and CEO of North America operations Ludwig Willisch said the momentum of the first quarter proved strong enough to give the company a good result in April and he expect solid growth to continue through the rest of Spring and into Summer.

"There's no shortage of desire in the market, now it's all about having the right models and being able to meet growing demand," Willisch added.

Sales of BMW brand vehicles increased 12% in April compared to the number of vehicles sold in April 2011, while the BMW brand is up 15.7% on sales year-to-date in the first four months of 2012 compared with the same period previous year.

The best performing vehicles included the X5 SAV, the 3 Series, and the 6 Series, according to the company.

MINI brand sales in the US were 5,731 units in April 2012, a decrease of 11.1% from the 6,446 sold in the corresponding quarter previous year, while year-to-date MINI sales was up 6% on volume of 19,911 in the first four months of 2012 compared to 18,787 in the same period prior year.
