Porsche Has Resumed Production of Cayenne SUV at Its Leipzig Assembly Plant

German sports car maker Porsche has resumed production of Cayenne SUV at its Leipzig assembly plant in the state of Saxony after a production downtime due to lack of supply from flood affected Bratislava.

In addition to Cayenne SUV, the German carmaker builds Panamera sedan at the facility and delivers them to global markets, including the US and China.

Porsche Leipzig Executive Board chairman Siegfried Bülow said that the plant has started operations with one production shift but the supply situation stays critical.

"The crossing of the flood-affected regions in the Czech Republic is still problematic because of route blockages," Bülow said.

"Therefore, we are deciding on a daily basis how many cars can be manufactured."

The Leipzig plant normally operates on three shifts and produces 450 Cayenne and Panamera models per day.

Porsche is also planning to debut the limited edition 911 sports coupe at the upcoming International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, which is scheduled to start from 12 September 2013.
