International Lighting Executive Per Langholz Has Been Appointed Non-Executive Chairman

NUALIGHT GROUP APPOINTS NEW CHAIRMAN

Tuesday, December 18, 2012: International Lighting Executive Per Langholz has been appointed Non-Executive Chairman of the Nualight Group as the Irish LED lighting technology specialist accelerates its global expansion.

Mr. Langholz is the former President of Sylvania Lighting International, where he led the company to profitable operation and annual turnover of over €400million.He has over 25 years of experience in the lighting industry.

He succeeds Eamonn Quinn of the Quinn family, founders of the Superquinn grocery chain which pioneered many innovative retail technology and food concepts. Mr. Quinn will remain on the Nualight Group Board.

“Eamonn Quinn brought invaluable global grocery retailer expertise to our business since commercialisation in 2007, helping us to become recognised by major food retailers internationally as the applications specialists in LED lighting for food retail,” said Nualight Group CEO, Dr Liam Kelly.

Mr. Quinn welcomed the new appointment, saying, “As we continue to grow globally and drive expansion into new market segments, Per Langholz’s experience will make a tremendous contribution.”

Founded by Dr Kelly, the Nualight Group is a LED lighting technology specialist with a core focus on retail. The Group’s vision is to bring lighting into a new technology age, delivering smart LED lighting solutions that maximise the profitability and productivity of the lit space.

The company acquired Lumotech B.V. in August 2011, accelerating its expansion into LED lighting for the entire store and opening up new market niches in corporate and commercial lighting applications. Lumotech is also a LED drivers design and manufacturing company supplying major European luminaire manufacturers, bringing additional competence in power management and controls to the Nualight Group. This is central to the Group’s strategy of developing smart lighting solutions for its customers.

Nualight was recently listed in the Global Cleantech 100, selected by cleantech experts from over 8,000 nominations worldwide, which highlights companies most likely to make a significant market impact in the next 5-10 years.It has gone from startup status 5 years ago to employing over 200 people in three locations worldwide.

Nualight is funded by Climate Change Capital, ESB Novus Modus, 4th Level Ventures and the Quinn retail family.
