ASDA Recalls Its Own-Brand Curried Chicken Snack Pack on a Precautionary Basis

UK-based supermarket chain Asda is recalling its own-brand Curried Chicken Snack Pack on a precautionary basis after Listeria monocytogenes was detected in the product, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

The product affected by the recall is Curried Chicken Snack Pack (Chosen By You), 150g, with 'Use by' 17 July 2013. It has the following barcode: 05052449807547.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause illness in certain groups of people, including pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, and anyone with reduced immunity, particularly the over-60s.

Asda will display product recall notices in store to notify people about the recall. Consumers who have bought this product have been urged not to eat it, but they can it to the place of purchase for a full refund.

No other Asda products are known to be affected.
