Borgwarner Will Extend Engine Parts Production Lines in UK

US based auto-parts manufacturer BorgWarner is planning to expand its engine parts production lines with the construction of a new engineering center in Bradford, UK.

The move will help BorgWarner in providing its new turbocharging technologies for Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR's) new family of four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines, which are scheduled for launch in 2015.

The expansion is expected to support JLR's new Engine Manufacturing Centre near Wolverhampton, for which BorgWarner supplies turbocharging technologies for JLR's gasoline and diesel engines.

BorgWarner Turbo Systems president and general manager Frederic Lissalde said, "With our investment in local production and testing, BorgWarner will provide Jaguar Land Rover with fast-to-market, high-quality advanced technologies adapted to their specific needs."

JLR purchasing director Ian Harnett said, "We are delighted that this contract will not only create high value manufacturing and engineering jobs in West Yorkshire but will support BorgWarner's collaboration with the University of Huddersfield."

The new expansion will expand BorgWarner's product line to include turbochargers for passenger cars, while the new engineering center will offer application engineering, design, simulation, testing and validation as well as metallurgical labs.
