Porsche Plans to Enter Into The Electric Car Market

Luxury car maker Porsche is reportedly planning to enter into the electric car market with the ‘baby version’ of its existing Panamera S E-Hybrid.

The car nicknamed 'Pajun', is expected to compete with Electric car maker Tesla's Model S.

Pajun is likely to be a complete battery-electric car without any gasoline engine, and is expected to hit the markets by in 2018 or 2019, Auto motor und sport reported .

Tesla Model S is also an all-electric luxury sport sedan, which would put Pajun in direct competition with the $70,000 car that provides 208 to 265 miles of driving range.

According to reports, Porsche wants the car to provide 200 and 250 miles per charge range. However, Bolt from Tata Motors and new Nissan Leaf is also expected to provide 200 mile range, and is expected to arrive before Pajun.

Reports suggest that the company will have to make significant improvement to the upcoming car to compete against Tesla which already has a good market share.

Porsche also has Macan S E-Hybrid and 918 Spyder hybrid cars that have similar range to that of Panamera plug-in model.
