Spartan Motors Has Sold The Majority of Indiana Plant in Order to Move Operations to New

Spartan Motors has sold the majority of its Wakarusa,Indiana plant to the Forest River,a recreational vehicle unit of Berkshire Hathaway,in order to move its operations to new plant in Bristol,Indiana in the US.

The sale is a part of the company's plan to shift the Utilimaster operations to Bristol,Indiana that was announced by the company on 14 February 2012.

Spartan Motors president,CEO John Sztykiel said that the sale of the Wakarusa facility represents an important step in the transition of Utilimaster's operations to Bristol.

"As we finalize the move and ramp up production,we expect the new,modern plant to support Utilimaster's long-term growth and enable us to achieve our potential in Delivery and Service Vehicles,"John added.

The relocation will allow the company to merge the operations into single plant with new manufacturing practices as well as improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency while reducing operating costs.
