The speciality label and packaging giant is to buy the £2.5m business specialising in pre-die cut pressure sensitive labels in sheet form for use on professional digital printers.

Label Connections will trade under the Avery UK umbrella but continue to use its PCL brand.

Lesley and David Turner, the current directors at the St Neots business, will continue to run the site and report to Mark Cooper, vice president and managing director at Avery Europe & Asia Pacific.

Geoffrey T. Martin, president and chief executive at CCL Industries, said: “Professional digital printing is the fastest growing sector in the commercial graphic arts market to which we will now bring all the design software, label, materials and printer compatibility know-how from Avery’s long history in desktop digital printing.”

Lesley Turner said: “We are thrilled about the prospect of taking this forward into Europe and other market areas. The demand for the PCL label ranges is increasing and coupled with the Avery expertise the opportunity for the continued growth and development of the brand is very exciting.”

She added that the deal was “an excellent move for the future”.

CCL Industries employs approximately 10,200 people and operates 97 production facilities in 28 countries.

Avery is one of the world’s largest suppliers of labels, specialty converted media and software for short run digital printing.
