Basic Facts

Wuxi is an old city in Jiangsu Province. Split into halves by Lake Tai, Wuxi borders Changzhou to the west and Suzhou to the east. The northern half looks across to Taizhou to the north over the Yangtze River, while the southern half also borders the province of Zhejiang to the south. Wuxi earned its nickname "Pearl of Lake Tai" because it's built on the shore of Lake Tai with beautiful sceneries. Wuxi was also dubbed "little Shanghai" because of its close proximity to the city and its fast urbanization and booming economy.

Wuxi Electric Vehicle

The electric car industry enjoyed a great period of rapid development between 2000-2004. It went into large-scale development which leads to three major industrial clusters: Wuxi, Zhejiang, Tianjin in accordance with the di‑ erences between north and south (South luxury, north simple).

Wuxi electric car industry has become China's most important production base of electric vehicles accounting for one third of the market with unmatched advantages of industrial clusters comparing to other regions. Among them, Xishan District, which Wuxi City electric car industry is concentrated in, is the main production base whose production capacity accounted for a quarter of the country with 186 existing manufacturers of electric vehicles supporting more than 480 companies which employ 5 million people.
