Greiner Packaging, a subsidiary enterprise of Greiner Packaging International has established its US headquarters in Pittston Township, Pennsylvania.
Greiner Packaging has already signed a lease agreement with Pennsylvania government for a 113,871ft2 site in Pittston to serve as its first US manufacturing site for the initial developing stage.
At the Pittston site, the company plans to invest about $17m in manufacturing, computer equipment, furniture and fixtures for producing packaging of cups and lids, K3, as well as other convenience and sustainable items for the food industry.
Greiner Packaging International CEO Willi Eibner said the packaging industry is showing interest in the northeast region of US as many milk processing establishments are located there.
"We chose to locate in Pennsylvania based on two other factors: great support from the Governor's Action Team and excellent service from Mericle Commercial Real Estate Services," Eibner added.
The company has secured a funding proposal from the Department of Community and Economic Development including a $104,000 guaranteed free training grant to use for the training of its new workforce.
Greiner Packaging will also receive a $450,000 Pennsylvania First Program grant for investment and job creation and $256,000 in job creation tax credits. It is also seeking funding offer as well as a low-interest loan including $3.2m from the Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund.
The company received support from Governor's Action Team (GAT) as well as from the Office of International Business Development (OIBD) for the project.
