Australian Dollar Rose After News That The US Trade Deficit Shrank

The Australian dollar rose after news that the US trade deficit shrank in December to its lowest level since January 2010.

At 6.30am AEDT the local unit was trading at 103.09 US cents, up from 102.98 cents at the local close on Friday.

The biggest month-on-month decline in the deficit in nearly four years also helped push US stocks higher on Friday.
