Sunshine Makers Introduce a More Sustainable Package and Delivery System

Simple Green Debuts Improved, ‘Greener' Packaging

Sunshine Makers, Inc., Huntington Beach, CA, the manufacturers of the Simple Green line of household and industrial cleaning products, introduce a more sustainable package and delivery system for their family of concentrated cleaning products after more than a year of research and development. This new delivery system, including a proprietary bottle and exciting new trigger technology from MeadWestvaco (MWV), is made entirely of plastic - no metals, no ceramic and with reduced resin content.

The new proprietary spray bottle, in 16-, 22-, 24- and 32-oz volumes, provides expanded label space for more product information, as well as an ergonomic, easier-to-use shape which helps relieve hand-fatigue. The new bottle also has the Simple Green logo embossed on the outer edge, encouraging bottle reuse and strengthening the brand presentation. The new bottle also includes 25% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic.

This innovative package and delivery system take advantage of advanced trigger spray technology developed by MWV. The new delivery system includes a "door foamer" nozzle option as well as an all-plastic trigger that results in a lighter weight and reduced resin content. This exciting new trigger will eliminate more than 19 tons of resin and 10 tons of steel yearly.

U.S.-made shrinks global footprint

Using materials that are made in the U.S.A. helps ensure a smaller global footprint, fitting perfectly into Simple Green's local supply chain strategy with shorter shipping distances vs. overseas manufacturing. This business model also supports local economies and continues Simple Green's tradition of providing USA-made goods.

The new package and delivery system are also a major step forward for the consumer. The new trigger makes cleaning with Simple Green even easier than ever before, providing a 28 percent increase in output, and a consumer-preferred spray pattern. The door foamer nozzle option allows the consumer to dispense product as either a foam or a traditional liquid spray, depending upon the job at hand. This enhanced package design and delivery system for our safer cleaning formulas is the perfect blend of form and function for today's consumer. Consumers will see the new bottle and trigger appearing on shelves across the U.S. and Canada throughout 2013.

The North American Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) awarded the new Simple Green bottle and trigger the gold packaging award for its Packaging and Merchandising Awards Program at the 2013 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas.
