Posco Planned to Raise Its Auto-Sheet Sales This Year

Kim Jae-Yeol, the Senior Vice President of the Korean steel giant Posco planned to raise its auto-sheet sales this year by increasing exports to customers in emerging countries such as India and China, aiming to offset the forecasted drop in the domestic automotive output this year. It’s learned that the Korean steel giant planned to sell 8 million tons of auto sheets this year, including 5.2 million tons to overseas markets, according to Kim said at the firm’s first-quarter earnings meeting. Furthermore, the sales will increase to 8.5 million tons in 2014, he added. Meanwhile, Posco predicted that the country’s vehicle output made by domestic car makers would drop to 4.495 million units this year from 4.559 million units last year.
