China's central bank is allowing individuals to set up bank accounts via video teller machines and the Internet.
The People's Bank of China issued a note saying banks can use multiple ways to verifying applicants.
In addition to going straight to conventional tellers, applicants can also use self-service terminals such as video teller machines, online banking and mobile banking to open personal bank accounts.
