Sales of Passenger Cars and Commercial Vehicles in Turkey Decreased by 25.47 Percent

In the first four months this year, sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles in Turkey decreased by 25.47 percent year on year to 168,577 units, according to the statistics released by the Turkish Automotive Distributors Association (ODD). In the given period, domestic sales of passenger cars in Turkey decreased by 22.93 percent to 132,116 units, while sales of commercial vehicles fell by 33.40 percent to 36,461 units, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in April this year domestic sales of passenger cars and commercial vehicles decreased by 27.55 percent year on year and increased by 12.03 percent month on month to 53,305 units. In the given month, domestic sales of passenger cars in the country decreased by 24.97 percent year on year to 42,769 units and increased by 13.11 percent month on month, while sales of commercial vehicles fell by 36.44 percent year on year to 10,536 units and were up 7.85 percent month on month.

According to the ODD's report, in April the main reasons for the month-on-month increase in sales in the Turkish domestic passenger car and commercial vehicle market were the increase in the consumer confidence index and the increase in the general current economic situation index.
