Market studies show that the price of 40W retrofit LED light bulbs fell below an equivalent of US$10/unit in the UK in July 2012.The price of similar products has fallen below US$10/unit in South Korea and the US.
Studies indicated that due to aggressive price competition from South Korea-based firms,the price of 40W retrofit light bulbs in South Korea dropped below US$10/unit in January 2012.This price appeared in the US and UK markets in June and July,respectively.
The lowest price of 60W retrofit light bulbs in the UK and Germany markets has been below US$20/unit.This shows that Europe-based lighting firms have been promoting LED light bulbs in their regional markets.
Compared to other markets,China's LED light bulb market has been lacking price coherence,according to Digitimes Research.The price difference of 7W LED light bulbs from various brands can reach as high as CNY117/unit(US$18.40/unit)with the highest price at CNY140/unit and the lowest CNY23/unit.
