Report: No Apple Watch 2 Until Autumn, New Colours/Straps Coming in March

Apple may not be planning to launch a second generation Apple Watch 2 this spring, according to a report on Friday.

Following on from its report about the iPhone 5se earlier on Friday, 9to5Mac has more information on Apple’s plans for its rumoured March 2016 event.

According to the report, Apple isn’t done hawking the first edition just yet and will instead announce new colours and strap options in March.

The sources say there’ll be new straps made from a new material, while there’ll be more partnerships such as the one with Hermes.

Beyond the external revisions, Apple is also planning to roll out the WatchOS 2.2, which has been available to developers in beta from earlier this month. The beta allows for multiple Apple Watches to be hooked up to one iPhone.

All this means the second generation model will not go on sale until later this year, with an announcement possibly planned for September.

That means a redesigned Apple Watch could be announced alongside the rumoured iPhone 7. Waiting until the latter part of 2016 would certainly give 1st-Gen Apple Watch users a little more time to enjoy their device before it is succeeded by the newcomer.

Will you be snapping up the always much-improved second generation Apple product before 2016 is out?
