Nintendo's First Mobile App Already Has Over One Million Downloads

The app launched on Friday in Japan, and has yet to arrive in any other territories, but that hasn’t seem to slow Nintendo down, as Forbes reports the impressive download figures.

The app currently sits atop the Japanese iOS charts, and represents the first game from Nintendo’s partnership with mobile game developer DeNA, a partnership already off to a strong start. The app is free-to-play with microtransactions.

It appears limited in scope, primarily acting as a text-to-speech messenger app, but the initial uptake from the user base certainly points to huge interest in Nintendo making mobile games.

Nintendo is set for a big year in 2016 as the company gears up to launch its next console, the Nintendo NX. Stay tuned to TrustedReviews for all the latest news regarding Miitomo and NX.
