Whether you’re driving a car, a hoverboard, or a motorbike, it’s important to keep your eyes on the road.
Samsung has unveiled a new ‘Smart Windshield’ prototype for motorcycles, with a view to improve safety for riders.
The windshield sits above the dashboard on the motorcycle, and surfaces notifications – like calls and texts – all viewable at a glance.
What’s more, the software is designed to be hands-free. If you’re driving for instance, it will reply to a text message explaining why you can’t respond.
The device is designed to work with a smartphone app, and can offer other useful information, like e-mails and navigation while on the move.
Unfortunately, the technology is still in the prototype stage, but it’s an interesting glimpse of what could be the future of motorcycling.
This particular video was created in partnership with advertisers at Leo Burnett, as well as motocross star Edo Moss and YouTuber Cane Secco. Yamaha, meanwhile, supplied the Tricity 125 scooter featured in the footage.
“We are extremely proud to support the Smart Windshield project,” says Andrea Colombi, manager of Yamaha’s Italian branch.
Colombi added that Yamaha’s vision was to have this sort of technology “become an integral part of [a user’s] way of life”.
