Olo Is A 3D Printer For Your Smartphone

3D printing has promised to change the world for years now, but despite the emergence of much cheaper models, it's still the preserve of hobbyists and those with specialist knowledge. Olo could change all that.

Olo Is A 3D Printer For Your Smartphone

Olo is a 3D printer that works with your smartphone. That means the technology is suddenly opened up to everyone with a smartphone (estimated to be 2.2 billion people, or about a third of the world's population).

It works with almost any make and model of smartphone too. It's compatible with handsets up to 5.8 inches in size, so will even work with mammoth 5.5-inch phones.

And it works with iOS, Android and Windows phones.

Not only that, it's smaller, lighter and cheaper than most models on the market. It's about the size of a Bluetooth speaker, so will easily fit in your bag.

Obviously, you'll be able to print only relatively small objects. But with all the designs available, you'll have plenty of choice. Plus, you can even print sculptures from photos of people.

The Olo is simple to use. Just select your object, pour in the resin and leave it a few hours. Then when you open it up, your 3D object will be inside.

It's already passed its funding goal, with 29 days to go. Pledge $89 (£62) and it'll be yours when it ships in September.

Who knows – the Olo could be the first 3D printer to bring the tech to the mainstream.
