Panasonic Intends to Deliver OLED TV in 2015

It was reported that the person who in charge of Panasonic's digital products business expressed in an interview with Japanese media that Panasonic will launch OLED TV before the end of 2015.

Currently, Panasonic is developing the next-generation OLED panel to be used in TV / large-size display with Sony, the target is to establish the massive production technology of the next generation of OLED panel. In addition to Panasonic, Sony is also developing OLED panel with Taiwan AUO.

Sankei Shimbun reported on February 16 that Sony and Panasonic have conducted consultations and planned to set up a joint venture in 2013 to produce OLED panels, the OLED panels produced by the joint venture will be supplied to outside vendors except for Sony and Panasonic. The world's first OLED TV is the 11-inch product of Sony put on sale in 2007, but because its sales was poor due to the higher price.

According to the report from TechRadar, Hugo Shin, the head of Home Entertainment communication department of LG Electronics, stated on April 16 that in a technological seminar said that its OLED TV has been sold only 200 units since it was put into market in February in South Korea. He believes that it would take at least 2-3 years when the price of OLED TV drops to the same level with today's high-end LED TV.

ETNews reported on May 27 that Oh Chang-ho who is the director of LG Display Co. (LGD) expressed on SID Display Week 2013 held in Vancouver that the company is expected to launch a complete product line of UHD OLED TV before the end of 2015.
