ET De La Lingerie Will Be Launching The Trends for Summer 2014

Between 6th and 8th July 2013, Mode City Salon International du Swimwear ET de la Lingerie will be launching the trends for summer 2014, as a sneak preview on the worldwide scene, alongside other fashion events at Porte de Versailles, Paris. The 30th edition of the show consecrates the union between the January and July sessions to offer the market a joint expression of the feminine universe, as epitomized by intimates, beachwear and wellbeing.

In line with the January show, which took its inspiration from lunar and polar themes, the July edition will celebrate its 30thbirthday by giving pride of place to the sun. The show will be dressing up in light, gold and sparkle for its special birthday edition!

Solar communications

Through the lens of the Parisian photographer, Jean-Philippe Malaval, known for his many fashion and beauty collaborations throughout the world, January’s figure, instinctive, mysterious and sensitive, is transformed into July’s energetic extrovert, at once bright and glamorous. Mode City sets the tone: warm light, iridescent and glossy effects, golden skin, games of light and shadow, for a show that shines with a thousand lights.

A NEW ANGLE FOR THE SHOW a fashion-forward experience

An opportunity to enjoy the show in an alternative way, in a more relaxed atmosphere that remains firmly performance-focused.

This year, Mode City Paris is celebrating the Israeli Couture swimwear brand, Gottex. The show will use the award as an opportunity to pay tribute to the founder of one of the world's most well-known swimwear brands,Lea Gottlieb, who passed away in November 2012,aged 94

Lea created the first glamorous swimsuit brand, with her husband Armin, back in 1956! The designer cared strongly about the quality of her swimwear, as well as seeking original prints by working with high-profile artists and painters. She was inspired by the contrasting colours and unique light of Israeli landscapes: the pink stones of Jerusalem, the blue of Lake Tiberias and the varying greens of Galilee. Floral prints also became a recurring theme. The spirit of Gottex was born!

In the early 1960s, Gottex launched a new trend by introducing the idea of matching swimwear and sarongs. The company gradually grew and innovated (adding Spandex and bra-cups to its designs) and developed a veritable range of Haute-Couture beach apparel. Gottex now produces around 1 million articles per year and exports them to over 90 different countries all over the world. The brand is worn by some of the world's most beautiful women Brooke Shields, Princess Diana, Elizabeth Taylor and more recently Bar Rafaeli. A 1980s icon, the strapless swimsuit remains the brand’s best-selling product throughout the world!

Molly Grad took over as Artistic Director for Gottex in 2009. A graduate of Central Saint Martin’s School in London, Molly honed her skills with Stella McCartney, YSL and Gianfranco Ferre

Summer Night ball

Once upon a time on the outskirts of Paris, the worldwide capital of international fashion, there stood an intimate and sumptuous palace: wonderfully sophisticated and utterly timeless, a symbol of elegance and absolute luxury. Steeped in memories of love and hate, four monarchs, one hundred years of construction… this sumptuous showcase demanded the exceptional. And, since Mode City likes to do things in its own unique way, the show is preparing to open the doors to the Sun King’s residence!

The Salons Internationaux de la Lingerie et du Swimwear will be holding their birthday party at the Château de Versailles, with a private soirée on Sunday July 7th 2013.

1,500 guests from all over the world will celebrate 50 years of intimates and 30 years of summer fashion (access by invitation only).
