Apple Re-Releases iOS 9.3 For iPad 2 Following Activation Woes

Apple has re-released the new iOS 9.3 software after the update caused issues with some older iPad and iPhone devices.

iPad 2 owners took the brunt of it with many unable to activate their tablets after attempting to install the update.

Some owners of the GSM models saw the message “your iPad could not be activated because the activation service is temporarily unavailable.”

Now the company has issued instructions for un-bricking the device using a computer and iTunes, along with a brand new version of iOS 9.3 that solves the ill.

Beyond the iPad 2, there were also reports of struggles for owners of the iPhone 5S, iPad Air and many earlier devices.

Many were required to enter the Apple ID and password associated with the device when it was first set up.

So, those using a second hand device, hand-me-down or different account might have been out of luck.

The company has also posted instructions (via The Verge) on how to fix that too.

Hopefully that should clear everything up and enable iOS device owners to enjoy new features like Night Shift.
