Havertys Sales Increased 12.9% to $171.1 Million for The Second Quarter

The housing rebound combined with better traffic and higher tickets helped Havertys to double-digit increases in second quarter sales and same-store sales.

Total sales increased 12.9% to $171.1 million for the period, from $151.5 million for the second quarter a year ago. Same-store sales were up 11.2%.

Through the first half, the Atlanta-based Top 100 company's sales increased 13.4% to $357.2 million and same-store sales rose 11.3%.

"The execution of our merchandising and marketing strategies continues to deliver solid sales growth and market share gains," Chairman, President and CEO Clarence Smith said in a release.

He added that Havertys' saw increases in both store traffic and the average ticket during the quarter.

"We believe the sustained increase in home sales and home prices are important drivers of the retail home furnishings business in the near and long term," he said.

Havertys operates 119 stores in 16 Southern and Midwestern states.
