Cooper Lighting announces its Photometric Lab recognized as a U.S.DOE LED Lighting Facts

Cooper Lighting’s Photometric Laboratory approval includes complete LM-79 and In-situ Temperature testing for solid-state lighting luminaires.

Cooper Lighting, announces its Photometric Laboratory, part of its LED Innovation Center, is recognized as a U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) LED Lighting Facts® approved testing laboratory partner. Notably, Cooper Lighting is listed with LM-79 accreditation, the industry standard procedure for photometric and electrical measurements for solid-state lighting products.

The DOE LED Lighting Facts program (lightingfacts.com) showcases LED products for general illumination from manufacturers who commit to testing products and reporting performance results according to industry standards. The program also provides information essential to evaluating products and identifying the best options. LED Lighting Facts testing laboratory approval is granted to partners that have submitted proof of accreditation by the National Voluntary Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP), a program administered by the National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) that provides an unbiased third-party evaluation to testing and calibration laboratories, or have been recognized by other accreditation bodies. Cooper Lighting has NVLAP accreditation (NVLAP Lab Code 200050-0) for solid-state lighting (SSL) test methods in Energy Efficient Lighting Products.

“We are pleased that our LED Innovation Center Photometric Laboratory is an LED Lighting Facts approved lab,” said Cooper Lighting President Mark Eubanks. “It is of the utmost importance to us that we continue to be a reliable resource for energy-efficient building designs. The photometric and lumen maintenance performance claims posted to the LED Lighting Facts website substantiate our commitment to our products and match results from any of the Department of Energy’s recognized laboratories.”

Cooper Lighting’s LED Innovation Center, located in Peachtree City, is home to the research, design, validation and manufacturing of proprietary LED and other advanced lighting technologies.

The scope of Cooper Lighting’s Lighting Facts approvals include:
•IES LM-79 for total flux and color (required label metrics; LM-79 sections 9 and 12)
•IES LM-79 for intensity distribution (optional metrics; LM-79 section 10)
•In-situ Temperature Measurement Test (ISTMT)

As of June 1, 2012, LED Lighting Facts will accept testing reports only from Testing Laboratory Partners on the Approved Testing Laboratory List.
