Iran Daily reported planning manager of National Iranian Petrochemicals Company production of polymeric petrochemicals will amount to 12 million tonnes per annum by 2016.
Mr Ramezan Oladi planning manager of NIPC said that Iran will achieve self sufficiency in terms of producing polymeric products by 2016 and will become a major exporter of the product. By launching new petrochemical units Iran's capability in polymer sector will grow significantly.
He said that until 1991 Iran only had one polymeric unit however currently the installed polymer production capacity in petrochemical complexes amounts to 6 million tonnes. By implementing the project to lay West Ethylene Pipeline and completing the construction of its phases a great revolution will occur in Iran's petrochemical industry. Developing petrochemical complementary industries and constructing specialized petrochemical townships will help the country create value added and decrease selling crude oil.
