Apple Just Named a New Chief Operating Officer

Apple has just announced that Jeff Williams will now be the company’s Chief Operating Officer.

Williams was previously responsible for overseeing Apple’s supply chain, a role he started back in 2010.

He was also the man in charge of the development of the Apple Watch, the company’s first ever smartwatch.

Apple has also named Johny Srouji as Apple’s senior vice president for Hardware Technologies.

“We are fortunate to have incredible depth and breadth of talent across Apple’s executive team,” says Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “As we come to the end of the year, we’re recognising the contributions already being made by two key executives.”

Cook continues: “Jeff is hands-down the best operations executive I’ve ever worked with, and Johny’s team delivers world-class silicon designs which enable new innovations in our products year after year.”

Williams first joined Apple back in 1998, and played a “key role” in Apple’s original iPhone launch.

Before joining Apple, Williams was involved with both operations and engineering at IBM.

He’s also got a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from North Carolina State University, and an MBA from Duke University.

Apple’s announcement also revealed that Phil Schiller’s role would now expand to include leadership of the Apple App Store. Schiller is currently the senior VP for Worldwide Marketing.
