SAS on June 5 Reported Consolidated Revenues of NT$2.381 Billion for May

Solar-grade crystalline silicon wafer maker Sino-American Silicon Products (SAS) on June 5 reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.381 billion (US$79.0 million) for May, hitting a monthly record for the third time straight with growth of 0.25% on month and 35.20% on year, while Green Energy Technology saw May consolidated revenues of NT$1.184 billion up 1.99% on month and 14.37% on year.

SAS had January-May consolidated revenues of NT$11.104 billion rising 32.51% on year. GET reported NT$6.127 billion up 29.62%.

After the US Department of Commerce made its preliminary decision to impose anti-subsidy countervailing duty rates of 18.56-35.21% on solar-grade crystalline silicon wafers imported from China, China- and Taiwan-based solar cell makers have rushed to place orders with Taiwan-based makers in an attempt to avoid the duty, GET said. Taiwan-based solar wafers are usually quoted based on China makers' pricing due to market competition, but the US imposition of duty rates has enabled them to independently quote prices, GET indicated.
