The reboot of Doom has been well received by fans and critics alike, but publisher Bethesda reckons there are more potential converts to the world of blood and guts.
As such, it was announced at E3 that the first level of Doom is available free for Xbox One, PS4 and on the Steam store this week.
Bethesda says the offer is a throwback to the days of shareware demos for PC, which were all the rage at the time of the 90s original.
However, whereas the shareware discs were forever, those seeking to give Doom a try will only be able to do so until the end of the week.

During E3, Bethesda also promised new maps and multiplayer modes including the old favourite, the deathmatch, in forthcoming DLC releases.
