On Sunday morning, US Steel Canada locked out unionized workers at its Lake Erie Works flat rolled mill in Ontario. The gates of the mill have been closed but sources tell SteelOrbis that the mill's production has likely been shifted to US-based plants.
As SteelOrbis previously reported, last Thursday, April 25, US Steel Canada sent a letter to United SteelWorkers Local 8792 giving union workers 72 hours' notice of the impeding lockout after the mill and its union did not agree on a new collective bargaining agreement.
